Award and Certificate in Mathematics Skills E1 to Level 1
The mathematic skills qualification are designed to provide individuals with the necessary numerical training to able to support an individual successfully seek employment, progress in their field, prepare for further study and support the development of the skills required for successful independent living.
These qualifications form part of the Basic skills suite and provides the individual training that they need to be able to successfully deal with everyday life, this could include knowing how much an item cost when going shopping, making sure they have the correct change, calculating various lengths and weights coupled with using these skills to produce a project and applying them within a real life scenario.
The qualifications have been designed in collaboration with experts from various industries, training providers and employment and professionals to ensure the content matches what is needed and valued by today’s Labor market.
What Can Mathematics Skills Do for You?
- Award and Certificate in Mathematic Skills – Entry1 to Level 1
- Provide the candidate with the knowledge, skills and understanding to be comfortable with working with numbers
- Develop and provide the individual with the necessary basic skills to operate on a day to day basis carrying our everyday activities
- Develop their personal qualities, social skills and transferable skills to successfully perform well in the world of work

The course will be classroom based completing a practical assignment.
Who is Eligible
The courses are fully funded for those who are:
- In receipt or claiming JSA/ESA/Universal Credit & Income Support
- Aged 21+
- Employed and earning less than £15,736.50 annual gross salary
Award in Mathematic Skills
- 2 – 5 days a week
- 3 hours a day
- Sessions – 9 to 12, 12 to 3 and 3 to 6
- Length of programme 2-4 weeks
Certificate in Mathematic Skills
- 2 – 5 days a week
- 3 hours a day
- Sessions – 9 to 12, 12 to 3 and 3 to 6
- Length of programme 7-9 weeks
- A recognised qualification from City and Guilds Awarding Body
- Skills that will help you progress to a higher level
- The ability to carry out mathematic skills effectively in the community and in everyday life
